Typically tequila is used in cocktails, but smoother versions are also fine for just sipping and you don’t need cocktail shakers and lots of other ingredients. Every make a Bloody Mary from scratch? I rest my case. We did a tasting on air of two tequilas so I wanted to include it for anyone looking for  a good sipping and blending spirit.

Noel isn’t just for Christmas

Noel is also a brand of tequila, one of my favorite spirits. I’ve done tasting of other tequila products so I wanted to see how this one will matched up, and was given samples to try.

Noel family distillery makes tequila, vodka and rum spirits as well as canned cocktails, a popular trend. They are also the official tequila of LSU Athletics. Noel makes small batch ultra-premium sipping spirits and was a gold winner at the NYC 2023 Intl. Spirits Competition.

The distillery is located in Louisiana, which might be why LSU is so high on them . . . hmm.

Noel Blanco tequila:

A luxury tequila for people who like a balanced and versatile Blanco tequila. Slightly sweet with notable hints of pineapple, vanilla, pepper, and cooked agave, it’s a perfect sipper while maintaining robustness in a cocktail.

NOËL Blanco Tequila is made from a proprietary blend of lowland and highland Blue Weber agave in Jalisco, Mexico. We used this unique blend to reveal the full aroma and flavor of the agave plant. Lowland agave makes tequila taste earthy – peppery – and herbal, while highland agave produces fruity and floral notes.

I was a little skeptical of it being a perfect sipper, but after Eddy Aragon and I sampled it I had to admit it work in more than a Margarita and standalone worked just fine. That does mean it’ll make your mixed drinks better as well.

Noel Reposado Tequila

A luxurious and intriguing sipper, NOËL Reposado is absolutely delicious. Aged in former Jack Daniels oak barrels, it has notes of oak, caramel, almond, and baked agave straight out of the oven. Great for those that enjoy a slightly aged mixer for a margarita or paloma while also holding its own as a rum or bourbon replacement in an Old Fashioned.

NOËL Reposado sourced  from the same proprietary blend of lowland and highland Blue Weber agave in Jalisco, Mexico. Naturally the blend was aged to reveal the full aroma and flavor of the agave plant.

While these are touted as sipping tequila and I do enjoy quality tequila that way, we also wanted to see what they’d do for our premium cocktails of Margarita and Tequila Sunrise. I’ve gone through a lot of orange juice making the Sunrise. No surprise both cocktails were excellent. Check with your local liquor store or wine shop to see if the carry Noel spirits.
